Staying Healthy with Uno and Smoothies

Staying Healthy with Uno & Smoothies

Who would have thought that I could combine one of my favorite childhood games with one of my favorite foods and get healthy doing it!  About a month ago my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to eat a bit healthier, so we started drinking protein smoothies every morning for breakfast, and eat a healthy lunch, dinner, and snack.  I really enjoy drinking smoothies mainly because I feel almost as if I am having dessert, rather than having something healthy.  Plus, there are a ton of smoothie options, they don't cost too much to make, they are delicious, filling and healthy.  Well, recently I decided I wanted to up my game and workout as well.  I also wanted my daughters to get involved in the workouts so that we could spend time together and they could also stay active.  So, I went to my favorite site ever, Pinterest!  While scrolling through Pinterest I found a great workout idea, using Uno cards.  Each color card has a different workout move, I chose my own workout moves per card color instead of copying the one I found on Pinterest;  yellow- 10 jumping jacks, red- 10 lunges or squats, blue- run in place for 30 seconds, green- 10 push ups, and wildcard- whatever you like. My daughters had a blast doing the Uno workout!  The three of us stretched for about 30 minutes beforehand and then worked out for about 45 minutes, my dauthers could have gone longer than 45 minutes but I was beat!  My four year old enjoyed the workout so much, she was ready to start working out as soon as she woke up the next day.  I am so glad I tried the Uno workout and I look forward to doing it later on today after my daughter gets home from school.  If you try the Uno workout or have a great smoothie recipe let me know, I am always interested in feedback, comments, or questions!
